Relay For Life Season

Posted: April 24, 2013 in For Fun

rfl-logoShepherd University hosted their annual Relay for Life event this past month. Fargo Insurance Group was proud to be a part of the event as an official sponsor. If you missed it, you missed an awesome opportunity to spread some love. Don’t worry, more opportunities are coming your way!

The Berkeley County Relay For Life is at Martinsburg High School on June 1, 2013.

Jefferson County Relay For Life is at the Charles Town Middle School on June 22, 2013.

If you join us in the Annandale, VA  region, a Relay Event at Thomas Jefferson H.S. on June 8, 2013.

All three of these Relay events (Shepherd, Jefferson, Berkeley) are well organized, overnight walks that bring the community together in a single goal – raise money to help fund the fight against cancer! Teams of people camp out around the facility all night long and enjoy each others company, games, walking, music, and fun. Members of each team take turns walking around the track to keep a continuous walk. Besides walking all night, there is plenty of food, games and activities that provide entertainment and build camaraderie between the teams and walkers. This is a family-friendly environment that the entire community can be a part of.

If you have never had the opportunity to be a part of a Relay For Life event, we strongly encourage it! It will change your life! Even if you can’t make the events, by following the links provided, you can donate to the events to do your part in funding the fight against breast cancer.

West Virginia Dad’s At Work

Posted: February 11, 2013 in For Fun

These “West Virginia Dad’s” caught some National attention. It reminds me of spending some time with my daughter tonight when I get home. Not sure if you have seen Matt Lauer’s fatherhood PSA, but this is a behind the scenes look into it – featuring some local fathers.

Thought it may be worth sharing. Here is the link: Enjoy!

Shepherdstown, WV. - The Shepherdstown Fire Department (SFD) is thrilled to announce the dedication and placement into service of 3012698_10151289015691101_189267059_ntheir new Engine 3 (pictured). For two years the members of the Shepherdstown Fire Department have been planning and establishing the necessities to become a reality on this new Engine. Everything from the size of the water tank, to the placement of the flashlights has been a priority throughout the planning process. On December 16th, 2012 at 1pm the vision will become a reality as the members of the SFD will formally remove from service our 1989 Pierce Dash Engine, and replace it with our 2012 Pierce Velocity Engine. The ceremony will last approximately one hour and will include the formal removal of old Engine 3 and the formal wash and push in of new Engine 3. The surrounding community, mutual aid departments, and media outlets are strongly encouraged to attend this ceremony.

The new Engine 3 has a 500 horse power motor with a 2,000 gallon per minute water pump and a tank that holds 750 gallons of water. She carries about 3,000 feet of fire hose, three ladders, and can transport six(6) firemen to the scene of an emergency in her state-of-the-art cabin. Fire hoses can be deployed from all four sides, and with seven(7) compartments, tools are efficiently stored. Designed with low hose beds and cross lays, this allows for quick, easy, aggressive deployment. Built as a firefighter friendly engine, we look forward to many years of service to the community with this fire engine.

Fargo Insurance Group is proud to support the fine men and women of the Shepherdstown Fire Department.

For EVERY view of this video, we will add $1.00 to help fund the fight against breast cancer!

Make a DIFFERENCE this October!

Posted: September 28, 2012 in For Fun

It’s that time of the year again. Fargo Insurance Group, Inc. is proud to host it’s Third Annual Bras For A Cause for the entire month of October 2012. In 2010 Fargo Insurance Group (FIG), recognized an opportunity for us to have a creative impact on funding the fight against cancer. Since the inception of Bras For a Cause, Fargo Insurance Group has donated more than $5,000 to cancer research. It is our hope that the 3rd Annual event will be the largest success yet.

How does it work?

Just drop of your bras at any of our location. Bras are accepted at any of the 5 local Fargo Insurance locations (Martinsburg, Ranson, Hedgesville, Inwood, Annandale). Drop your bras off and while your there enter to win multiple prizes. For each bra donated to the cause FIG will donate $.50 to a local organization in an effort to support the research on finding a cure for this disease. In 2010, the money was donated to Susan G. Komen. In 2011, the money was donated to Jefferson, Berkeley and Shepherd University Relay for Life events.

What happens to the bras?

The bras donated can be of any condition. The bras in moderate to excellent condition will be donated to a local women shelter. The bras in poor condition are disposed of appropriately.

How many bras do you want?

This year, for the first time, FIG will be tracking bra donations throughout the month (previously, they were tallied at the end). We have set a goal of 1,000 bras. You can follow the communities success at our Facebook Page.

What else?

On October 12, 2012 from 11am -3pm the Martinsburg, WV FIG office will host a FREE lunch event at our office on Williamsport Pike. On October 26, 2012 from 11am -3pm the Ranson, WV FIG office will host a FREE lunch event at our office on Mildred Street. These events are free, and are an opportunity for you to stop by get some free food as well as get to know a little more about some local organizations! Other organizations will be on hand with fund-raising opportunities and information tables regarding breast cancer research and other pertinent information.

How can I help?
